Privacy Policy

This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and what control you have when using Formbase.

1. Introduction

Formbase is a service that helps you present Google Forms with custom templates and settings. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

2. Information We Collect

Account information. Google sign-in data such as email/name, plus internal account identifiers and auth tokens.

Google OAuth tokens. Drive/Forms access tokens, refresh tokens (when provided), and expiry times to call Google APIs on your behalf.

Form configuration data. Slug, Google Form URL/ID, field mapping, theme/SEO/cover/ending/scripts configs.

Submission-related processing. We are designed not to store respondent answer content in our database; submissions are sent to Google Forms/Sheets.

File uploads. Files are processed through our backend and uploaded to the creator’s Google Drive. We do not intentionally persist file contents in our database.

Analytics and logs. Events like view/start/submit, session ID, user agent, referrer, metadata, and request logs for reliability/security.

Billing data. Subscription/payment identifiers, status, timestamps, amount/currency, and webhook payloads from Paddle.

3. Google API Permissions We Request

When you sign in with Google, Formbase requests the following OAuth scopes. Each scope is used for a specific, limited purpose:

forms.body.readonly

Read the structure of your Google Forms (questions, options, sections) so we can render them with custom-designed templates. We never modify your forms.

forms.responses.readonly

Read form responses to display submission data and analytics on your dashboard. We never modify or delete any responses.

drive.file

Upload files submitted through your published forms directly to your Google Drive. This scope only grants access to files created by Formbase — we cannot read or modify any other files in your Drive.

You can revoke any of these permissions at any time from your Google Account settings.

4. Google API Services — Limited Use Disclosure

Formbase's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Specifically, Formbase:

  • Only uses Google data to provide and improve user-facing features visible in the app.
  • Does not transfer Google data to third parties, except as necessary to provide the service, comply with laws, or as part of a merger/acquisition with user consent.
  • Does not use Google data for advertising, retargeting, or selling to data brokers.
  • Does not allow humans to read Google user data unless the user gives explicit consent, or it is required for security/legal purposes.

5. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide and maintain core functionality.
  • Authenticate users and secure accounts.
  • Run enabled Google integrations (Drive/Forms).
  • Process subscriptions and billing support.
  • Measure usage and improve product quality.
  • Detect abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
  • Respond to support and service communications.

6. Data Security

We apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards. No system is perfectly secure, and you use the Service with that understanding.

7. Third-Party Services

  • Google for authentication and API integrations (Drive/Forms).
  • Paddle as Merchant of Record for billing/subscriptions.
  • Google Analytics for product usage measurement.

These providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies.

8. Your Rights

  • Access, correct, or delete personal information (where applicable).
  • Manage account settings inside the app.
  • Revoke Google Drive permissions in Google Account settings.
  • Request account deletion by contacting support.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with the updated effective date.
